GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Certification program selected for Travalyst’s first cohort of approved sustainability certifications

Kelowna BC, September 3, 2024 –  The Canadian-based GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Certification program has been independently reviewed and deemed compliant with Travalyst’s criteria. The program is now officially included in Travalyst’s list of approved sustainability certifications for accommodation providers; an initiative aiming to support certifications and the hospitality industry through the evolving legislative landscape while providing consistency across travel booking platforms helping consumers make informed travel choices.

“This list is the first milestone in a long-term commitment to enhancing the integrity of sustainability information for consumers and the industry at large, and we will continue to work with stakeholders to closely monitor the fast-evolving legislative landscape, and adapt our approach to certifications accordingly,” – Sally Davey, CEO, Travalyst

Since 2018, GreenStep has been providing certification programs for the tourism sector, across all business types, as well as for tourism destinations.

We are excited to see GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Certification program included in this list of Travalyst-approved programs for hotels. GreenStep has long been committed to ensuring the credibility of our certification programs, and this approval provides one more layer of assurance for our valued customers. – Angela Nagy, GreenStep

GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Standards for industry and destinations have also been formally recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, and include a thorough assessment of sustainability performance against four pillars; sustainability management, social and economic, natural and cultural, and environmental impacts.
