Tell us a bit about your business. What makes you different?
Invermere Inn & Suites is in the heart of Invermere. We are so lucky to be surrounded by beautiful views and a variety of local shops and galleries, our hotel offers affordable stays in the heart of our beautiful mountain town! With a lot of our attraction being you are in walking distance to all shop’s restaurants and beaches!
Why is sustainability important to you/your business?
Sustainability is important to Invermere Inn & Suites because we would like to keep our hotel and community healthy and clean for decades to come, we are so lucky to be in such a beautiful place that has so much nature to offer! Our hotel would like to make a difference by growing our sustainability and making continued changes to make sure we are leaving a good impact on our community!
Why did you join GreenStep Sustainable Tourism?
Invermere Inn & Suites joined GreenStep Sustainable Tourism as a joined effort with our other 10 properties to make sure our hotels are doing our part to make sure our businesses and practices are eco friendly as well as taking recommendations from our hotel assessments to further improve our environmental footprint. We are so lucky to be situated in such a beautiful place our hotel would like to help our community stay healthy and clean for years to come.
What sustainability related projects, policies or initiatives do you most want travelers to know about?
We participate in Soap 4 Hope by collecting all of our used amenities. We donate them to those who have limited access to these basic needs. We would like our guests to know we do services on every 3rd day of their stay to limit the amount of water and chemicals we use also we ask our guest to hang and reuse towels if possible. Our hotel uses porcelain and glass for our dishes to cut back on plastic waste.
What are some goals and/or actions you plan to take in the future to further increase the sustainability of your business?
We plan to join Copper Point to create tracking systems for all of our energy expenditures as well as tracking for charity and donations creating the information needed to determine where to best focus our efforts and maintain our goals. We are working on our recycling program for bottles and cans to make sure they are getting donated to projects that can better our community. We also are looking into finding local indigenous artiest and community members to bring more culture and adventure to our guests!
