Tell us a bit about your business. What makes you different?
Copper Point Resort is a refreshing mountain experience. We are inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us and hope our guests enjoy the views and activities in our area as much as we do. We offer spa services, two pools and a high quality restaurant. Our suites are unique and a step above the rest in the valley.
Why is sustainability important to you/your business?
Our Resort is run by INNHotels, a company dedicated to becoming a leader in Sustainable tourism. It is important to the owners and the staff that their daily efforts support the environment and the communities they are a part of. We are aware that taking steps to minimize the negative impacts of doing business is necessary for a healthy future.
Why did you join GreenStep Sustainable Tourism?
INNHotels took the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge. As a start, all ten properties began completing a green step assessment. Copper Point is a strong supporter of doing everything we can to preserve the natural beauty that is a part of our resort experience. We look forward to creating community building initiatives inspired by the assessment as well as projects to better connect guests with outdoor activities.
What sustainability related projects, policies or initiatives do you most want travelers to know about?
We participate in Soap 4 Hope by collecting all of our used amenities. We donate them to those who have limited access to these basic needs. We would like our guests to know that we supply housekeeping services only on the 3rd day of stayover to help limit unnecessary usage of chemicals and water for laundry services. We offer extra cleaning on request to ensure comfort. We also ask that guests reuse their towels by leaving gently used towels on the bar during a stayover clean.
What are some goals and/or actions you plan to take in the future to further increase the sustainability of your business?
We plan to create tracking systems for all of our energy expenditures as well as tracking for charity and donations creating the information needed to determine where to best focus our efforts and maintain our goals. An exciting project we have in the works is to display more local and indigenous art at our resort as well as connect with locals to provide more offerings such as educational hikes. We are looking forward to participating in the EcoFund and being able to plan larger sustainable goals in the future.
